Registration Fee:  $25.00

 The Klickitat River, one of Washington State's longest free flowing rivers, rises in the high Cascades in a remote corner of the Yakima Indian Reservation.  It flows southeast then generally south, meandering through steep canyons and enters the Columbia at Lyle, approximately 10 miles NW of The Dalles, OR.   

The Klickitat is known as a Summer Steelhead River.  There are steelhead in the river when it opens to fishing on June 1st and the fishing holds up through mid October.  In addition to Steelhead, the Klickitat produces Chinook and Coho Salmon.  There are also large resident Rainbow Trout throughout much of the river all season long.

Food & Beverages:

  • The outings fee covers all of the meals from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch.
  • Bring your own wine, beer, or hard stuff.
  • You do not need to bring any cook gear or eating utensils.

What to Bring for Fishing:

  • Washington steelhead fishing license and a Columbia River Steelhead Endorsement.
  • It is very likely to be quite cool during the day and significantly colder at night.  Bring clothes that will keep you warm.
  • Rain gear
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Camera (in a zip lock bag)
  • 4-6 weight rods and floating lines
  • 2x and maybe 3x tippet depending on which flies you use
  • Stonefly nymphs and egg patterns
  • Water bottle and drinking water for when you are on the river
  • Waders, wading boots and wading staff

What to Bring for Camping:

  • Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad
  • Change of clothes (You may get wet)
  • Rain gear
  • Flashlight(s)
  • Folding Chair

Directions:

  • Drive east on I-90 to Exit 108 to I-82 (just past Ellensburg)
  • Drive south on I-82 to Exit 50 to WA-22
  • Drive south on WA-22 into Toppenish and turn south on WA-97 towards Goldendale
  • Drive 48 miles on WA-97 towards Goldendale
  • Take the 1st Goldendale exit onto WA-142
  • Follow WA-142 for 11.7 miles and turn right onto the Glenwood Highway (there is no signal)
  • Drive on the Glenwood Highway for 10 miles and turn left at the sign for Stinson Flats
  • Drive to the bottom of the valley and look for the NFA banner.
