Conservation outings promise lots of exercise and good works

 

Snoqualmie River Tree Planting February 23:

This event is sponsored by the Stilly Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Task Force (SSFETF). It’s at their new Stillwater Wildlife Area near Carnation. The event runs from 10 AM to 2 PM. Stillaquamish River Tree Planting March 15:

The SSFETF and the Snohomish Conservation District host this tree and shrub planting outing along the banks of the Stilly near Arlington. The fun lasts from 10 AM to 1 PM; as always, tools and snacks are provided. Help improve habitat, water quality and erosion control, and enjoy the beauty of the area. Snoqualmie River Tree Planting March 29:

Back to the SSFETF’s Stillwater Wildlife Area near Carnation for another planting to provide salmon with shade and cover. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about salmon and northwest ecosystems. The planting lasts from 10 AM to 2 PM, and tools and snacks are provided. What to bring

Warm clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Good work boots for sloshing around in the mud.

Work gloves to protect your hands.

The Washington Environmental Council is a state coalition of conservation minded organizations that lobby the state government.

 

The Federation of Fly Fishers is a national organization that lobbies federal and local governments on issues specifically of interest to fly fishers. Club members are very active in the federation and support it’s activities through a number of programs including participation at local outdoor expos and annual fly fishing jamborees held in Washington and Oregon as well as the national FFF meeting and conclave.

 

Washington Trout is a state organization dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of wild trout and their habitat.
